commodore repairs bumper and grill

After a high performance drift accident, i smashed the front bumper and grill of my vk. Because im not too concerned how my car looks, and couldnt be bothered paying for it to be professionally repaired, i decided to fix it up a bit myself. The vk and vl commodores both have 3 part front bumpers. This means that you can replace only the parts you have damaged if you choose. I had only smashed the center, but i chose to replace the whole front bumper with a replacement from a wreckers anyway.

Removing the front bumper from a vk commodore isn't difficult. There are some bolts which hold on 2 brackets securing it at the front. The sides sort of clip on. You remove the bumper as a complete unit. You can then detatch the bumper side sections from the centre section by unbolting the clips. Whack it all back together and put it back in.

The grill of a vk commodore is held in by 3 screws at the top, and 3 plugs at the bottom. The grill i bought from a wreckers had only 1 screwhole left and 1 of the plugs. However it still stays in place. My bonnet was also bent up in the accident and lost some paint. I tried to straighten it a bit, but i will replace the bonnet with a straight one some day.
